Episcopal Day School athletics are taught in a nurturing atmosphere that stresses the importance of participation, sportsmanship and hard work, while fostering attitudes of compassion, responsibility, teamwork and integrity. Students are given support and guidance as they develop and refine their athletic skills, improve their physical fitness and build confidence in their abilities.


Boys’ and girls’ basketball runs from November to February.  The eligible grades are 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th grade, 6th-8th grade Silver and Gold Level.


Our cheerleading team cheers for tackle football and basketball. They begin practice in August. The eligible grades are 6th – 8th grade.

Flag Football

The eligible grades to participate in flag football are 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th.  A max weight limit of 140 lbs. is in effect for any player to be eligible to play.

Co-ed Flag Football starts in August and runs through the end of October.

Tackle Football

EDS teams up with Little Flower to field a tackle football team. The eligible grades are 6th through 8th grade. A weight limit of 140 lbs. is in effect for running backs.

Conditioning starts in August and the season runs through the end of October.

Track & Field

The co-ed age groups eligible are kindergarten – 8th grades. The tournament will be a one day tournament in late April/Early May.

Track and Field Team consists of the following events: Long Jump, Softball Throw, 1600 Meter, 50 Meter, 400 Meter, 100 Meter, 200 Meter, 800 Meter, 4×100 Relay, and 4×400 Relay.


Our team levels include 4th/5th grade, 6th-8th Silver Level, and 6th-8th Gold Level.

Girls’ Volleyball begins in August and runs through the end of October.


Tennis Teams consist of 4-6 players and a Team Captain/Coach for each age group.  Age groups eligible to play are co-ed 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U.

Fall matches begin in September and run through Nov.  Spring matches begin in February and run through April.  Matches are played primarily at Roger Scott Tennis Center.


Our swim team consists of students from independent and Catholic schools collectively and uses the team name, “The Saints”.  The team competes against Escambia County Public Middle Schools.

Practices begin in December and are held at Washington High School Aquatic Center.  Boys and Girls teams are for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders only.  Meets begin after winter break in January and continue to March.


The co-ed soccer team levels are kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade, 6th-8th grade.  The soccer season begins in February and runs through April.
