Update on the Search for Head of School

Dear Members of the Episcopal Day School Community: I am writing to update you on the search process that is now in place for the new Head of School. By now, most of you are aware that we have started a search to find our next Head of School. For those who may have missed the announcement, please see Father Michael Hoffman’s letter naming the search committee here. We have had two very productive meetings to date. Our first action was to identify and engage a searchconsulting firm to assist us in this all-important task. After evaluating several firms, we...

A Letter from Fr. Hoffman and Search Committee

To the Episcopal Day School Community, I have had a busy first three months as the Rector of Christ Church, and so far, one of my favorite parts of the job is working with EDS. Doing chapel, teaching some 8th grade religion classes, and getting to know the staff and kids has been a blessing to me. (As an aside, I am hoping to teach some 7th and 6th grade classes as well). As a father with a rising kindergartner and 5th grader, I am fully invested in the Episcopal Day School, and we are so glad that our kids...

The 1st Graders' Interview with the New Interim Head of School

As Ed Costello, the new Interim Head of School, starts the semester with EDS, there is a buzz of excitement going around. Being qualified and experienced to progress the mission and vision of the school, we know EDS will be in good hands during this time of transition. We’re continuing to move forward together as a community with strong leadership.   Despite his extensive resume, the students were anxious to get to the bottom of the real question at hand — who is Ed Costello? They prepared their questions and sat him down for an intense interview. The Basics Question:...

Behold, We Will Do Something New

As we begin our 65th year as Episcopal Day School, my thoughts are drawn to what it specifically means to be an Episcopal School.  As such, we are committed not only to academic excellence, but also to character and spiritual formation.  We guide our students to discover their gifts and talents, to put forth their best effort, to learn from their mistakes, and to care deeply about others.  We give children the opportunity to learn and worship side by side with students of various faiths, where they can seek clarity about their own beliefs and honor the traditions of others....
